Nazret and Langano Trip

On Saturday June 7, we got ready in the morning for a little trip. First we were going to Nazret to visit Mom’s friend Mery and her family. Mom packed lots of snacks and treats for the drive. When we were driving there were desert looking places and lots of huge herds of cows and goats and donkeys everywhere along the road. Sometimes it looked like the van was going to hit the animals. By a place called Mojo there were some large camel farms and wild baboons beside the road. When we got to Nazret we met Mery then she took us to a market to see the camels coming to town carrying different goods. We even got to touch a camel, it felt warm and it is a gentle beast. Zariah was a bit scared of the camel but the other kids all loved it and we got to sit on the neck of the camel. After the camel excitement we went to Mery’s house where her mom had made some delicious food for us, Kai was excited to eat meat because we don’t eat it much here. Mery took us to her neighbors house, we saw so many sheep and even got to hold a baby one, they were so cute. We tried to find a hotel to stay in that night, but every place we stopped was full and had no room, some were too expensive like this one that wanted an extra 100 Birr for each kid. Finally we found a place to stay with a very big room, but the hardest beds ever and I had to share with Kai, not fun. It was so hot there that Zariah and Kai were up all night so poor mom got no sleep. In the morning we went to a little shop that had fresh mango smoothies, it was so good and we bought bread and smothered it with peanut butter. Then we drove to Lake Langano for two nights of fun as a family. It was so beautiful I was so happy to be there. There were high bunk beds kind of like a tree fort. We went swimming in a lake that looks like tea. Mom was teasing me that there were hippos so I was scared at first, but there aren’t so we had so much fun swimming everyday and mom and dad let us get ice cream…mmmm. It was so much fun!
